When you send money directly to a bank account, you will need to know the recipient’s bank account*4 details. Afterwards, visit your nearest Western Union® Agent location.

2. Complete the Money Transfer Application Form
Please fill out Money Transfer Application Form (MTAF) at a location. You can also download MTAF from Western Union website. At any transaction, the customer is required to show the evidence(s) prove of your identification*6 and My Number*6 (for Japanese Nationals and Foreign Residents in Japan only).
4. Take a printout of the transaction details and your receipt
You will receive a printout of the transaction details, which will include your Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN).

5. Contact the recipient
Please contact the intended recipient of the money transfer and give them transaction details including the name of the sender, the amount sent and any necessary information regarding the country of origin. Do not disclose transaction details to anyone else except the intended recipient.

6. Check the money transfer status
Confirm money has been paid into receiver’s account by asking your receiver to check bank account or contacting the bank.
You can use the MTCN to track the status of your money transfer from Western Union® website.

7. Paid into receivers’ bank account
Your money will be paid into your receiver's bank account within 1 to 3 bank working days*5, depending on the destination country. You will receive a SMS message of transaction status when providing your mobile phone number.

*Only for consumers who have formerly provided a document which certified the Individual Number (My Number) at the same Agent location.
Non-Residents
The Individual Number is not required; consumers only need to provide another form of Identification Document*6.
